This consultation sets out HSE's proposals to introduce revised Control of Asbestos Regulations to implement the changes required to comply with the European Commission's reasoned opinion on the UK Government's transposition of Directive 83/477/EEC as amended by 2003/18/EC on the protection of workers from the risks of exposure to asbestos at work.

The Audit Commission has released its report on the NHS Financial Year 2010/11, which summarises the audit of the 2010/11 accounts for strategic health authorities, NHS Trusts and PCTs. The report also looks at the auditors’ conclusion on the ‘value for money’ arrangements that are in place in each organisation and the progress made by NHS Trusts and PCTs with regard to progress made in delivering their  ‘cost improvement programmes.’

The current situation on the streets of Britain could have an impact on our Health Services if they are forced to shut their doors early due to the threat of violence.

Derek Butler, Chair of MRSA Action UK, said today: “MRSA Action UK welcome The Health Protection Agency confirmation that cases of MRSA are at a record low with fewer than 100 infections in a single month across NHS trusts in England.

Official statistics show that levels of patients infected with the bacterium are at their lowest since records began, with just 97 cases in the NHS in June according to The Health Protection Agency, the first sub 100 monthly figure recorded.
