BIOPURE 600 OFFERS COMPLIANT WATER SUPPLY
The 450-bed Barnsley Hospital is expanding its endoscope-reprocessing department, and has installed an Elga Process Water Biopure 600 to supply the HTM2030 compliant water. The department currently handles around 50 endoscopes each day in two Labcaire Guardian automatic re-processors, but is set to increase capacity by about 50%. The expansion is needed to meet the increasing demand for reprocessing services not only from Barnsley, but from several other hospitals in the surrounding area. The water treatment system consists of water softeners feeding the floor standing Biopure 600, delivering up to 600 l/h via a ring main to the endoscope re-processors, and there is enough spare capacity for the hospital’s future needs. Water from the Biopure 600 is used for all parts of the wash cycle, even though HTM2030 only requires this quality for the final rinse.

MONITORING ON THE MOVE
A new cutting-edge 24/48 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitor designed to improve patient comfort and to be more convenient for staff is available from APC Cardiovascular. The ‘Mobil-O-Graph’ is able to take gentle measurements of blood pressure preventing over inflation thanks to it unique autofeedback logic AFL technology. Once a reading is taken the device inflates initially to only 6mmHg over the previous reading, increasing patient comfort and promoting greater patient compliance. The device further improves patient comfort due to its easy-to-apply correct-sized cuffs and being light-weight, smaller and quieter compared to previous blood pressure monitors. The easy to read screen has buttons for the patient to log events and also for day/night times. The ‘Mobil-O-Graph’ also allows patient data to be easily transferred to a computer via wireless technology – using infrared or bluetooth. The device’s software then enables extensive analysis of patient blood pressure and pulse values – displaying comparison profiles for ambulatory and stationary data and comprehensive reports for physician interpretation.

SUMA BAC SANITISER HAS FAST-ACTING FORMULA
Suma Bac D10 from JohnsonDiversey is a concentrated sanitiser that is highly effective against a wide range of food borne pathogens including E Coli. Its fast acting formulation has been shown to kill bacteria at a dilution of 1:100 (as tested by the European EN1276 standard) meaning it can be used to clean up accidental spills and as part of a daily regime. The sanitiser also offers excellent cleaning performance and cuts quickly through grease and dried on food soiling.
